Win the battle against post-vacation depression!

Table of contents

The end of August also means the end of the vacation for many people, and some of them take it bad!

The return to routine often causes apathy, reluctance and even sadness in us. It’s ordinary to miss the beach, the weekday dinners with friends and the relaxing holidays because who doesn’t like to be on holidays. Even so, some people are more likely to have this post-holiday syndrome when they return to work after a break.  Don’t worry, today we’re offering tips for preventing post-vacation depression or at least getting better at it!

Resume your schedule

On vacation we are very flexible with schedules and that’s great. But when the time comes to get to work, it is advisable to get used to getting up early a few days before getting up. Try to keep a schedule similar to the one we have when we are working. For example with meals, coffee, showers or even going to bed.

Getting ahead of the routine

Of course we shouldn’t work on vacation, it’s a time to disconnect. However, in the days leading up to the start of work we could check the mail or find out about some of the issues that have happened. This can make the brain better suited to the return from vacation!

Adapt to the routine progressively

Trying to do everything we have to do on the first day is overwhelming and desperate, so on the first day we have to see what’s pending and organize ourselves to get everything ready for the next few days. Starting to work gradually will help us to gradually adapt to the routine!

Don’t leave aside leisure

It’s important that besides working we continue to make plans that make us enjoy ourselves and not leave them behind when the holidays are over because the change will be very abrupt. Don’t forget that with a good organization you can enjoy the work and also the walks, the movies or the dinners with friends!

Preparing the body

Starting a good diet will make us feel lighter and healthier. Also, starting to play sports is a good way to release serotonin, also known as the happiness hormone. This will help our mood, but it will also help relieve stress, as exercise has been shown to reduce anxiety and depression.

Nowadays, more and more people are joining running, this is a good option for workers because besides being cheap it is a good way to start the day with energy or to disconnect when you finish the working day. Do you dare?

Preparing the mind

Back to work is hard, but we’re privileged! It’s all a matter of attitude, taking life with positivity will make the routine less hard. It’s a matter of perspective, it’s about seeing the bright side of things and using them to be more motivated. As a consequence of a positive attitude you will improve not only your performance but also the way you live your life. That’s why it’s important to avoid focusing on what discourages you from routine and focus on what motivates you in your daily life.

To help you see things more positively we leave you with 5 sentences that will surely help you to see your return to work in a different way!
