Smile Hero: Natalia

Natalia, a lover of cooking and good cinema, was born in Donetsk, Ukraine, in the late 1970s.

At the age of 37, Natalia decided to leave her hometown behind to fly to Europe to live in Madrid, Spain and seek a more prosperous life. Here she started a family, and is now the mother of 3 daughters.

Natalia works in the kitchen of a famous hotel chain and has found happiness in her life. She feels fortunate in the life she has managed to create for herself and her daughters, and leaves every morning for work.

As a migrant, and since she arrived in Madrid, Natalia has always needed a basic account that would allow her to deposit money, pay bills by direct debit, and control her expenses.

When she was told about the Smile Account, she saw how it solved two problems in one go: she could send money to her parents for a few months at the best price, and she would also have a Mastercard with which to manage her day-to-day life.

One day I went with a friend to a callshop near my home, and they told me all about it.

How did you find out about the account and what do you think of it?

I have several foreign friends living in Madrid, and they told me that they had launched a basic account with a very cheap Mastercard, which you could open in a few minutes without having to go to a bank. One day I went with a friend to a callshop near my home, and they told me all about it.

Why Moneytrans?

I knew that Moneytrans was famous for sending money abroad, and that it is usually oriented towards migrants, and I was very confident that it is a company that thinks of everyone, wherever they are from.

Besides, I don’t like banks, I find it complicated to do business with them and opening an account is expensive. I was surprised how easy it was to open an account in a shop next to my house, and they spoke my language! Things are changing

"For a foreigner living in Spain, I would say that the Smile Account is a blessing"

What about the future?

I don’t think I will go back to Ukraine to live. My place is in Spain, I’ve been here half my life.

I have my daughters, I have my flat, a job that gives me stability… with all that, and a current account where I can manage my money, it’s more than enough to live peacefully. I don’t have to worry, and everything is easier.

What would you say to someone in your situation?

I am glad that there are companies that think about the real people, the majority of us, who are not rich and need services that make our lives easier.

For a foreigner living in Spain, I would say that the Smile Account is a blessing because it is very necessary to have an account with a debit card for your day-to-day life and it is not easy to find one that you can open so easily, without being asked for a thousand pieces of paper. Also, if you use your mobile phone, it’s super easy, because it has an app where you can do everything, I love it!
